Mein Magic Moment
We were on a skiing tour over the Aletsch glacier, heading toward the Lötschenlücke mountain pass with my godchild, who had just turned 18, and a mountain guide friend of mine. The majesty of the mountains is simply unparalleled. We were the only people around as far as the eye could see.
The only sound we could hear was the snow crunching under our skis. We were constantly moving, our bodies powering ahead. We did take the odd break to soak in the breathtaking views and experience this moment with all our senses. We weren’t thinking about the past or the future – we were simply reveling in the moment. It’s a long way down the Lang glacier into the Lötschental valley – and it’s as picture-perfect as the ascent.
Arriving into the village of Blatten, we decide we’ll take a skiing tour every winter from now on, the three of us, for as long as we live. And that’s a promise we’ve kept to this day.
